Wellscape Celebrating 10 Years!

Wellscape is Celebrating 10 Years!

Ten years ago this month, I officially opened Wellscape Direct MD. With a push of a few long-time patients, the doors were opened, and with the support of colleagues, friends, family, and my patients, Wellscape is still going strong! It has been an adventure, between learning about business and the running of a medical practice, but I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to spend quality time with patients, getting back to what I consider the roots of primary care.

Unfortunately, the wider array of our healthcare system continues to struggle. Too often there are unnecessary barriers to receive healthcare and too much disjointed care. Direct Primary Care has offered one option for putting the “care” back into healthcare, and we can only hope that there will be improvements and changes for the system as a whole.

For those in Massachusetts: anyone interested in further supporting the efforts of Direct Primary Care in Massachusetts, there will be a hearing on Tuesday Oct 14, 2025 for a bill that would: 1) allow Direct Primary Care patients to be referred to specialists without requiring an insurance referral, and 2) allow physicians in MA to dispense prescription medications from their office.

The bill is Bill H. 1343, “An Act Relative to Direct Primary Care.” Please let your representatives and senators know you support this bill. If anyone is interested in providing testimony as to how this might impact your healthcare, here are the details. Many thanks to my colleagues who have worked diligently to get us to this point!

Vaccination News

Speaking of healthcare in disarray, sadly, the long-time reliance on federal guidelines for vaccine guidance has been compromised by the current leadership. Look for outside groups of scientists to provide scientifically based and medically sound advice, such as The Vaccine Integrity Project and local and state governments.

Your Local Epidemiologist has just come out with a nice summary of fall vaccinations.

It’s also worth noting that Governor Healy has already established insurance coverage in MA for all fall vaccines recommended by the MA DPH.

Happy Fall!
